Baby Birth at Saddleback Memorial Hospital-Womens Clinic-Dr. Raffo-Bug and Roo Photography-Birth Photographer- Laguna Hills-Orange County, CA

I totally get how birth can be very unpredictable and such an important time in a family’s life. You have to make sure the bag is packed, the carseat is installed correctly, and start planning for when the baby comes. Should we bring the go pro, the camera, or just our cell phone… oh my gosh so many things to worry about. Can you relate? As a mother, I felt like I was going to forget something.

This is why I wanted to just chat with you and answer some questions you may have about birth photography. This can be the one thing that you know will be done and one less thing to worry about.

Soooo....... Here it goes

What is birth photography?

Birth is one of the most miraculous events in life. ...Birth Photography is just like wedding photography, where when the memories fade and the time passes on, it allows you to revisit this emotional and special moment. These memories will last forever.

Can you imagine pulling out these pictures when your baby graduates high school and you see all those first moments. Their first cry, the first time you held them, those tiny toes and fingers. Birth photographers capture all those details that might be missed otherwise.

  • How long will you stay at the birth?

I will stay as long as the birth is in progress. Some births are long, some are short. I will be there while mom is laboring through the first couple hours after baby is born. This is where the baby's weight, height, footprints, and first breastfeeding session is captured.

  • When should I book a birth photographer?

You should plan on meeting and booking a birth photographer by the start of your second trimester if possible. Since births are so unpredictable, I only book a limited amount of births per month. I would recommend booking as soon as possible.

  • What if I go into labor in the middle of the night?

Like a doctor, I am on call 24/7 once you hit 38 weeks. I usually ask my clients to call me as soon as they go into labor so I can make sure to be prepared and have ample notice to make it to the hospital in time.

  • What are other types of photography can I have done?

I specialize in lifestyle documentary sessions. Whether it is newborn, family or maternity sessions. Lifestyle newborn sessions give you a chance to have those first hazy days captured and documented, because most likely remembering those days are slim to none. I also offer breastfeeding and herbal bath sessions. Breastfeeding sessions are very precious and near and dear to my heart. Most of my sessions are about an hour and can be done indoors or outdoors.
